The Dying Art Of Letterpress
Found this beautifully shot documentary” by Danny Cooke on the fascinating “dying ART of letterpressing“.
I probably the love for it because of my father, although not sure, if from over exposition to his drawings or as a side effect of his “forced styling” on my early calligraphy! Whatever it was, I got it in here
But I decided to post the video here as a tribute to a more recent friend, Peter, who has been sharing his journey on letterpressing and by doing so, teaching me so much about it!
So I can safely write here that I like typography but I need to thank them both for making me love it!

MIT Media Lab Identity
Richard The & “The Green Eyl” new visual identity for the MIT Media Lab its as brilliantly clever as beautiful!
Inspired by the community it comprises, the logo is based on a visual system, an algorithm that generates a unique logo for each person, for faculty, staff and students. According to Richards there’s even a custom web interface to allow each person at the Media Lab to choose and claim an own individual logo for his/her business card, as well as a custom animation software which allows to create custom animations for any video content the lab produces… amazing:

Customer Journey Canvas in Portuguese
Developed by Marc Stickdorn and Jakob Schneider the Customer Journey Canvas is a nice tool described and used in their book on Service Design Thinking.
The idea behind the canvas is to supports the audit of existing services, covering not just the period of time associated when customers face the service, but also the time before (pre-service) and after (post-service) of the customer journey. Since I found it useful I’ve took sometime to translate it to portuguese, so if you’re interested you can find it download it here, or from the service design thinking website.
Put your service to the test and ENJOY!

World Usability Day 2010
The day is almost over but I’ve hardly close to finish my post about this year’s topic – Communication, so instead I’d like to just share a very simple video introducing HCI to those who might not be so familiar with:
Why buttons go bad
If this got you curious and you still haven’t clicked away, follow along with to Dave Kelley on a tour on how much is actually in stake about human computer or human centered design:

MUJI on iUniverse
I’ve been a long time fan of MUJI, long goes the time, when going to London was the excuse to empty the ever growing shopping list. The thing only got a bit worst when I moved to Düsseldorf, where a MUJI shop just sits around the corner, so it became more easy to shorten the list with a almost weekly visit. They don’t come cheap, but I’m always amazed with the quantities of ways in which some of their products actually simplified stuff in my life. So yes I’m a FAN.
Curiously today, I was a bit surprised with the launch of not 1, but 4 apps for the iUniverse, one calendar app, one sketchbook, one travel helper and of course the apparel catalogue.. it’s an impressive set of apps, both in simplicity as in utility.. check them out the MUJI dedicated iApps page.

How much of your page goes unnoticed?

You’ll find a lot of literature and best practices when searching for answers on what goes beneath the fold of your website, so Google came to the rescue and just released the Google Browser Size, a visualization of browser window sizes for people who visit Google, which you can customize to see how does this measurements fit you own website, pretty much as I did for the above screenshot.
Thankfully I’m working on the redesign of my own website for a couple of days otherwise much of what goes in here would go unnoticed
